but what can i do when long ago
i've chained my heart and soul
around her, sealed it with a padlock
and threw the key away?
i am no david copperfield
and i don't have any spare key
hidden on my mouth, my toes,
like cheap escape artists do
coz i believe i don't need any
for want of being close to her
all my life
but i have always treated her right
and i know it'd be wrong to deny her
so though i don't have the strength
i'll break these chains with bare resolve
to still give love a good name
then bleed afterwards.
