*Changes*

Changes
By: Amy Chandler

I woke up beside you, and rolled out of bed.
I slid out of my clothes, and stepped in your shower.
As the water ran down my breasts, all I could think about  was us.
I put on your shirt, slipped on my shoes, and went to walk out your door.
As I stepped outside, I thought of you lying there, waking without me beside you.
I wondered what  you’d think.
Would you be angry, confused, hurt, worried?
Did I care?
Yes I did.
I cared about everything within you.
So I turned walked to your bedroom door,
opened it and stepped inside.
You weren’t asleep, you were sitting on the edge of your bed,
reading the many letters I wrote you in our time together.

You looked up at me with tears in your eyes.
I took off your shirt and sat down beside  you.
You asked me why things had to be this way, why it couldn't be different.
I had no answer then, I looked at you and said nothing.

I put my head on your bare chest,
and put my lips upon yours.
Before we realized what we doing, you we in me and smiling.
Then all of a sudden your expression changed and you looked frightened of me.
You were frightened that I would just walk away and break your heart.
Then it was over, and there we laid not knowing what to say.

Then you rose, standing there naked.
It made me think of how much I wanted you.
How good things could be.
You stepped into the shower, I heard the water running, heard it stop.
I heard you yelling to me you would be right back.
So I waited hour after hour until it grew dark.
I thought of so many things.
I was angry, confused, hurt, worried.
I knew what it was like to be you.       1

It was cold out side so I borrowed your old coat, and started walking towards home.
Halfway there a man stopped and asked me if I could use a ride.
This was a man I had never met before, but something in his deep blue eyes made me say “Yes”.
There was something that made me feel close to this man, like I had known him from somewhere else.
So we rode listening to love songs on the radio.
He pulled onto a side road and stopped his car.
I was frightened and excited at the same time.
He leaned over to kiss me, and the moon shown upon his face.
He pulled out of the light so I could not recognize him.
Then he spoke.
“I know who you are, I know you better than any one.
I know how you taste, how u  feel, what you want.”
“I have what you want” he said. “Do you want to take it?”
With no second thought I said yes.
Then the man leaned over to me so I could see how perfect he was.
His hair was short and brown, his eyelashes long and enticing.
His lips were the the kind that felt like pillows when you kissed them.
And at that moment I realized it was you.
You had rescued me from a life with out you, a life with out love.
You had rode around for hours thinking of me, trying to figure out if I was worth it.
You imagined a life without  me,
A woman that made you feel complete.
Someone who cherished every inch of your body,
and listened to you with so much interest.

Then you saw me walking, feeling sorry that you had left me there.
We were both sorry that we had left at all.
All we wanted was each other; everything else was gray.
You told me this time it was different.
This time it was forever.
Side by side we would fix this.

But after that night there was nothing to fix.
I was your angel, and you were my hero.
We were in heaven, and we stayed that way for a long time.
This man that saved me, this man who loves me,changed our whole world that night.
And he...You changed me.
