Glowing After....a bump

When the ragged breathing
slows, stills, stops
and I feel the warm amber place
where you have visited my heart
some nights i fall into a haze,
and the words spoken
do not connect
to a whole thought.
But last night
the gates opened
and you came through
mind soul and touch
and i caught you in these arms
before sleep could carry us,
and spoke a quiet truth
your heart has tried not to hear,
but I said it again.
And this time
before you could turn away
it held you fast,
even as the ripples
of afterpleasure pooled about you.
I am warm contented---
and in a small way hopeful.
I have been looking plain at you
from the first---
you were the one who would not see
what made my heart skip,
my eyes shine,
my soul open like a warm quilt
around you...and perhaps now, you do.
