Memories

They dance like wood nymphs across my mind
Memories
Ones I’ve tried damn hard to bury away
To starve from a lack of attention.
Knowing fully that it never works.
So,
I saw a movie this afternoon
Without another hand to hold in the dark,
I had to leave in the middle.
(it was a romantic comedy)
Back home I made shrimp linguini for dinner
Until I figured out I was not very hungry.
I left the bottle of wine unopened
Without two it just seemed somehow, extravagant.
And I had to turn off the stereo
With no one to hold in a slow dance
Thee music was starting to sound hollow
Sorta like I feel right now.
Alone
Lonely and blue
With only the memories
Dancing across my mind.
