Into the Fray

Parading past potential mates
Leaves me weak and listless.
I should look within myself,
Not in a man for completeness.

Hopeless battle, futilely fought.

Knowing scars are not yet healed
I plunge once more into the fray
Hoping aches will cause me pause
In blind pursuit of passion's sway.

Sadly wiser, not easily caught.

Not quite whole yet, so unfair
To search for another when still incomplete.
Yet not willing to wait for the wounds to mend
Before seeking my soul's mete.

Not yet ready, as I ought.

First find peace within your frame
Then you're free to love again.
But the clock ticks loudly by
And I cannot help but try. . .

Blind to lessons painfully taught.
