Charms of Minerva Blues

Hers was sort o' face you remember when th' liquor's done eased you,
An' prospect of gazing on her form seemed always t'have teased you.
First thing got mind of casual onlooker was she of the haughtier set,
On th' contrary, sweet Minnie had nicest disposition anyone ever met.
But those who knew history feared her on account o' a longtime curse,
Enemy o' her line declared first man to have her wind up in a hearse.

Look, but don't touch; don't think they ever was crueler disclaimer,
For she became anathema to any man convince himself to tame her.
Lonely though willing, poor Minnie could only show her love in deeds,
While a cadre of drooling fools debate price of satisfying her needs.
Seem like forever before anyone get to wonder how t'break that spell,
What made it worse for Minnie was she know how, but could never tell.

About that time the life of Billy Parton was presume close to an end,
For the doctors had informed him gently that his body could never mend.
So an ingenious plan formed within the mind of that now-condemned soul,
And he announce sampling charms of Minerva had been his lifelong goal.
One week later, they laid that young man to rest and gather in prayer,
Odd as it may appear, most swear Minnie was th' only happy one there.
